Throughout our lives, we are often faced with challenges and need someone to talk to who won't judge us or offer advice. We might be having difficulty in our relationships, stressed at work, have health issues or have noticed some patterns in our lives that don't seem very helpful.

It can be daunting to open up these conversations, but counselling can offer you the space to talk through whatever is happening in your life with someone who won't judge you or tell you what to do. Counselling is very much a collaborative process, and as your counsellor I will work with you to explore your challenges in a way that feels comfortable and appropriate for you.

About me:

I am a qualified integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. This means I am trained in a variety of approaches and use these to develop an approach that is tailored to each individual client. Primarily, I work within a humanistic, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural framework.

My approach to counselling encompasses the following ideas:

Every client is different. I work with what a client brings to each session and where they are at the time of coming to counselling, not where I would like them to be. Having trained integratively means I can treat each client as an individual and develop a relationship that best suits their needs.

The relationship between client and counsellor is incredibly important. It takes some time to build, and I work to be open, understanding and non-judgemental to ensure the client feels safe in the space with me.

Confidentiality is invaluable in my work. Opening up to a counsellor isn't always easy, and I make sure all sessions remain confidential and clients are well informed of how I maintain this practice.

My aim is to work alongside a client, not judge them. I appreciate that clients may feel some vulnerability when coming to counselling, and I work in a warm, empathetic and down-to-earth manner to support a client through whatever difficulties they may be facing.

As a BACP registered counsellor, I adhere to the BACP Ethical Guidelines. My sessions last 50 minutes and are treated with confidentiality. Sessions are held at premises in central Richmond, in a large office building meaning discretion is assured. The space is easily reachable by Richmond station and several bus routes.

Next steps:

Choosing a therapist can be a difficult process. In an initial session, we would work together to explore what it is you want from therapy, and then decide on our next steps from there. It is important to me that the client feels happy with their choice. If you have any queries, please do get in touch.
